Garibaldi's Feast

Festa di Garibaldi 2025: the traditional event commemorating the embarkation of the hero of two worlds from Cesenatico takes place.
It was the year 1849, precisely on August 2, when Garibaldi embarked from Cesenatico with twelve bragozzi and a tartana, intending to reach Venice to free it from the Austrian siege and help the patriots.
Today, in the month of August, the great event is remembered with a folkloristic historical reenactment.
Here is the program summary:
- the Cuccagna Pole , with the ten city districts ready to attempt to climb the 14-metre pole covered in grease;
- the historical parade of Garibaldi's soldiers through the streets of the centre, with stops at the monument erected to the hero in Piazza Pisacane, at the old house on the port where Anita rested and at the memorial stone in Piazza Ciceruacchio;
- the excursion aboard motor ships and boats with multi-coloured sails, with the throwing of wreaths into the waves in memory of the event;
- the great musical fireworks display on the water.
